The General Chapter will be an important and decisive time for the Congregation with its varied geographical, apostolic and demographic reality. The theme for the Chapter is inspired by this verse from the book of Judges: ’Go with all your strength… Am I not sending you myself?’ (Jg 6:14)

’Little Sisters and Laity are sent on mission in a changing world, creating together a universal family, sign of the Reign of God.’

The Chapter will explore the theme of the mission, an occasion to renew our missionary enthusiasm and the sense of the being sent as apostles.

Part of the programme of this 18th Chapter is an evaluation of the past six years, the orientations for the next six years and the election of the new Superior General and her Council.

This Chapter will also be an occasion to consolidate the bonds with the laity who, from the beginning of the Congregation, were part of the family of the Little Sisters of the Assumption, and to explore different way of sharing the charism and spirituality.

The Congregation came into being in France in 1865, thanks to Fr Etienne Pernet (Augustinian of the Assumption) and Antoinette Fage. Today it has 803 sisters in twenty-two countries of five continents.
