Celebrations for the Beatification of the Martyrs of Algeria

We wish to communicate to you the different celebrations that will take place in France (the majority of the martyrs being French, and two Spanish sisters…) and some suggestions for being united to this event.

    -  On Sunday the 8th of December at 5 p.m. in the Chapel Notre Dame des Anges, at 102 Rue de Vaugirard: A celebration organized by the “Groupe d’Amitié Islamo-chrétienne” GAIC, with the help of the presentation of the play “Pierre et Mohamed”. The Christians and the Moslems are widely invited.
- On Sunday the 16th of December at 4.30 p.m. in the parish of St Dominique, Rue de la Tombe Issoire: ”The Yes of Love”, a celebration and evocation of the 19 Martyrs, in particular Brother Henri Verges, and Sister Paul Hélène. A celebration that is organized by the Marist Brothers.
- On Saturday the 22nd of December at 6 p.m. a vigil/meditation and at 6.30, a thanksgiving Eucharist, presided over by Mgr Aupetit, Archbishop of Paris, in the presence of the current Bishops of Algeria, organized by the Dominican Brothers.
Diocese of Chalons en Champagne :
- The Bishop of Chalons en Champagne, wishes to carry out on Saturday the 23rd of March 2019 a celebration with Mgr Desfarges, Archbishop of Algiers for Sister Odette, Little Sister of the Sacred Heart of Charles de Foucauld, and Sister Paul Hélène, in the little village of Sister Odette, at Oger.
- Several Christian media have also expressed a wish to testify to that event.
   -  At the end of the Assembly of the Congregation on Saturday the 13th of April, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of the Mother House we will also have a thanksgiving Mass to be followed by refreshments. LSA, Aolas, Laity, Fraternity, friends, administrators will be invited to it.
For that occasion, we wish to edit a bookmark that will recall to us the gift of the life of Paul-Hèléne. Father Jean-François Petit, A.A. has written a little document highlighting the LSA vocation of Sister Paul-Hélène and her belonging to the Assumption Family. We will make a booklet of that.
- We are also proposing to you for the 8th or 9th of December 2018, that in the parishes you attend, you ask the Person in Charge if you can give at the mass a prayer intention or a little testimony to Paul-Hélène so that, wherever we are, each one may be in communion with that event which seeks to express that to give one’s life has meaning so that love may triumph over all divisions.
Our thanks to all of you for participating in one way or another in this event of the congregation and of the universal Church.
The vigil at 8 p.m. on Friday the 7th of December, at the Cathedral Sainte Marie d’Oran, and the Beatification mass at Notre Dame de Santa Cruz at 1 p.m. on Saturday the 8th of December will be transmitted in live by KTO (French catholic TV channel).
Let us welcome this event that is given to us. Let us rejoice in the Congregation, with the family of Sister Paul Hélène and the whole Church for receiving the testimony of love of our sister and of all those who have given their life. We honour those whom we know, but we also know very well that many men and women, unknown, have also given their life in the name of freedom and kindship.
(a letter from the General Council to all the Little Sisters)
