Some news from the International Laity Commission

The International Laity Commission met for the second time July 2nd to the 6th 2014. Our days were filled prayer, reflection and the desire to give concrete expression to the journey of sharing the Charism between Laity and Little Sisters as we continue to carry out the mandate given by the 2011 General Chapter.

All the members were present: Victor Andres (Columbia), María José (Spain), Maryalice (USA), Eugenia (LSA General Council), Agnès (LSA France, co-ordinator of the Commission), Pilar (LSA Spain), Amparo (LSA Columbia).

We shared a day with Sr. Franca Sessa from the International Justice and Peace commission, looking at ways we can work together. We enjoyed an evening with a member of the Fraternity at the Little Sister mission – Mosaiques. Sr. Marie Françoise also spent a day with us and we shared our progress, our worries, our joys and we also offered some ideas for future meetings.
The formation document we have been working on is complete! It will be presented at the end of September to the Territory Coordinators at their meeting at the Mother House in Paris. As a commission, we are very excited to share this work with all of you and look forward to hearing results as the territories begin to use it.
We still have much work to do and we look forward to connecting via skype and email until our next meeting in July of 2015.
As Victor stated in his article on the website: “We are returning to our countries with many more desires, hopes and obvious commitments, but convinced that we have taken big steps through the small actions we have proposed and which we hope will lead all of us to be more daring so that, following the example of Jesus, Servant and Saviour, we may show forth the glory of God through the service of the poorest on this beautiful planet”.
