Brother and Sister Act 2: 700 religious, men and women, gathered from the 1–3 May at Antony!

Joy was the theme of this gathering that was organised by the Conference of Religious of France (Corref) for the men and women religious aged under 45 years. Several Little Sisters of the Assumption and Novices participated in it.

In his letter to consecrated persons, Pope Francis shares his conviction: "Where there are religious, there is joy." It was within this movement that the Brother and Sister Act 2: "Missionaries of joy", took place.

You must be prophets!

On Saturday, that was the way in which Mgr Rodríguez Carballo, former Minister General of the Franciscans and at present Secretary of the Congregation for Religious, called on the young religious present to "combat routine". "We are there to be happy", he insisted, basing his talk on five key words: gratitude, hope, passion, gospel, prophecy.

On that last point he emphasised that "the consecrated life must call and challenge, proclaim hope, intercede, that is to say, pray and suffer with". He did not hesitate to proclaim: "It is prophecy that gives meaning to our religious life, you must be prophets, if not – leave the religious life!"

Testimony by Sr Tuyen, temporary-professed Little Sister of the Assumption
"First of all, it was a joy to meet up again with some of the members of our inter-novitiate some years ago at Chevilly Larue. And also an occasion to get to know other brothers and sisters of different congregations. I was not expecting that there would be so many of us there nor that we would be from so many different congregations.
The organisation was perfect. I had the good fortune to be in a group of 25 very pleasant sisters from several congregations. When we were returning in the metro I was deeply touched by the patience and attentiveness shown one another. It was a very fine occasion and leave a very good memory! Thank you Lord for all and I hope that we will have more opportunities like that later on."

Testimony by Sr Cam Nhung, temporary-professed Little Sister of the Assumption
"As a temporary-professed sisters of the Little Sisters of the Assumption, I am happy to have been present at the meeting organised by the CORREF with all those who have a vocation to the religious life. I was happy to get to know them, to have this fraternal sharing! An unforgettable occasion!
We are called, in following Christ, to be missionaries of joy, hope, confidence, love, faith and of charity. The religious life is a treasure for the Church!
