18 September: 130th anniversary of the death of: Antoinette Fage/Mother Marie de Jésus

’Be worthy of her’, how does that challenge resonate in us today? Now, 130 years later, the ’family’ has spread to all the continents. Today, how can each Little Sister of the Assumption recognise herself in her?

In the course of his talk on the 20th September 1883, Father Pernet said:

’For the last time on this earth your Mother is there… while she was still alive, I would have been afraid to wound her sensitive heart by talking to you about her, but today … I can do it, I know she will not blame me now and that she will not keep me from talking.
… Her joy was to hear the word of God, she was crazy about it because her soul felt the need to be raised up always
… Right to the end her heart was given to those who are considered to be unimportant, to those who suffer…
Very shy and timid, she believed herself to be incapable of anything…
But she who was nothing, see what she became in the space of barely twenty years.

She occupied very little place in the world, and see how she grew. You are her growth, my children, and that growth will extend further from generation to generation, because, there where she is, she can to all for the future of her Family. She has grown bigger in you, she will be multiplied by you in time and with the grace of Our Lord, only, be worthy of her.’

’Be worthy of her’, how does that challenge resonate in us today? Now, 130 years later, the ’family’ has spread to all the continents.
Today, how can each Little Sister of the Assumption recognise herself in her?
